Job Description
The Head of Engineering / Technical Lead will report directly to the CTO and play a pivotal role in driving the technical planning, system architecture implementation, and engineering team management for the company's centralized exchange (CEX) platform. This leadership position requires a combination of technical expertise, strategic vision, and team management skills to ensure the successful delivery of critical exchange systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the CTO and assist in implementing technical strategies for the CEX platform
- Lead R&D management and delivery of core exchange systems including trading systems, matching engines, market data systems, wallet systems, risk management systems, clearing/settlement systems, user account systems, and backend management systems
- Break down technical roadmaps and create project plans aligned with the CTO's strategic vision
- Manage daily engineering operations including task allocation, code reviews, quality control, progress tracking, and team capability building
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, risk, compliance, security, and customer service teams
- Participate in system architecture design with focus on high concurrency, low latency, high availability, security, and scalability
- Establish and optimize R&D processes covering requirements review, technical solutions, development standards, testing, deployment, monitoring, and incident response
- Ensure system stability and performance optimization, addressing critical technical issues
- Drive continuous improvement in trading systems, contract business, wallet security, risk strategies, and backend systems
- Assist the CTO in team building including recruitment, talent development, performance management, and collaboration efficiency
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field preferred
- 8+ years software development experience with 3+ years engineering team management
- Mandatory CEX exchange experience with deep understanding of core exchange systems
- Expertise in high-concurrency, low-latency system architecture design
- Proficiency in Java/Go/Python/C++ and strong system design capabilities
- Experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL/Redis/Kafka/MongoDB/Elasticsearch/Kubernetes/Docker
- Deep understanding of trading system fundamentals including order lifecycle, matching logic, and risk management
- Strong security awareness regarding wallet security, private key management, and anti-fraud mechanisms
- Proven team leadership and project execution capabilities
- Excellent problem-solving and crisis management skills
- Ability to effectively collaborate with CTO on strategic execution
- English communication skills preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mainstream CEX platforms or financial trading systems
- Knowledge of derivatives trading (perpetual contracts, options, margin trading)
- Familiarity with on-chain wallets, cold/hot wallet solutions, and asset management
- International exchange experience with compliance/AML/KYC knowledge
- Experience building engineering teams from scratch or managing 10+ engineers
