Job Description
We are seeking a backend and infrastructure-focused engineer to build production systems for Web3 protocols. You will take end-to-end ownership of critical systems, spanning from on-chain events, indexers, APIs, and background workers to data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, real-time data streams, AI agent orchestration, and necessary frontend delivery. This is not just a backend role focused on writing interfaces—you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of system architecture, implementation, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous iteration to ensure stability, performance, and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend Systems & Architecture: Design, build, and maintain core protocol backend systems, including indexers, APIs, background workers, data pipelines, and internal services. You will independently own the architecture, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration of specific systems.
- Cloud Infrastructure & Operations: Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP, handling deployment, scaling, and operations for production systems, including containers, queues, caching, databases, CI/CD, logging, monitoring, alerts, and cost control.
- Real-Time & Multi-Chain Systems: Build systems that push on-chain state to clients in real time, including WebSocket, price feeds, transaction streams, and live dashboards. When scaling to multiple EVM chains, coordinate indexers, RPC infrastructure, and cross-chain state to ensure low latency, consistency, and clear fallback mechanisms.
- AI Agent Infrastructure: Develop and maintain backend infrastructure for AI agents, supporting developer assistance, on-chain inference workflows, and internal automation. You will handle LLM APIs, tool-calling loops, agent skill execution, logging, monitoring, and reliability controls.
- End-to-End Feature Delivery: Deliver product features across the full stack—from on-chain events to indexers and APIs, and finally to React/Next.js frontends. Features may include trading flows, launch processes, token pages, real-time dashboards, wallet connections, and transaction UX.
- AI Skill Optimization: Beyond using AI agents, you will participate in developing, fine-tuning, and optimizing agent skills for external developer support and internal engineering workflows.
Job Requirements
- Bilingual Proficiency: Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese for effective communication with internal teams and global developer communities.
- Backend Expertise: Strong production-level backend development experience with TypeScript/Node.js. Rust or Go experience is a plus.
- Database & System Design: Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, message queues, background tasks, caching strategies, and high-load system design to build correct, fast, and stable systems under high concurrency.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP production systems, including Docker, Kubernetes (or similar orchestration), deployment, scaling, CI/CD, logging, monitoring, alerts, and cost control.
- Web3 Backend Experience: Production experience with on-chain data systems like indexers, event listeners, RPC coordinators, and transaction submitters. Understand tradeoffs between eth_getLogs pagination, subgraph queries, third-party APIs, and custom indexers.
- Frontend Delivery: Practical experience with React/Next.js/TypeScript to integrate backend data into clean, functional interfaces that remain stable with real-time updates.
- AI Workflow Familiarity: Daily use of AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) and experience integrating them into workflows. Knowledge of LLM APIs, tool-calling, and agentic AI systems in production.
- Security Awareness: Proactive focus on rate limiting, input validation, authentication, wallet interaction security, abuse prevention, and edge cases like pending/reverted transactions or chain switching.
- Timezone Alignment: Availability to collaborate across European to APAC time zones, with coverage up to UTC+9.
- Startup Mindset: Adaptability to rapid iteration, strong ownership, occasional on-call duties, and prioritizing builder/developer needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Smart contract experience (reading, writing, or auditing Solidity).
- Understanding of EVM internals for safely building backend systems interacting with contracts.
- Production indexer experience for high-throughput chains like BNB Chain, Base, or Solana.
- Production-level agentic AI system experience (beyond prompt engineering).
- Experience with high-concurrency, high-availability, and low-latency systems.
- Deep Web3 frontend expertise (wagmi/viem/ethers, wallet connections, transaction signing, contract interactions, chain switching, etc.).
- Contributions to open-source Web3 projects (indexers, wallets, block explorers, or SDKs).
- Background in Web3 infrastructure companies, exchanges, or wallet providers.
